Embassy of Uzbekistan in Germany hosted a roundtable devoted to current affairs and perspectives of tourism in Uzbekistan, Jahon news agency reported.

Representatives of tour operators and agencies of Germany and Switzerland, including Gebeco, Lernidee Erlebnisreisen, Welweitreisen, Form Dienstleistungen, Reise Zeit and ASGT AG, publishing houses and hospitality business.

Participants got acquainted with the tourism potential of Uzbekistan, priority directions of development of tourism in Uzbekistan, rich spiritual and cultural heritage of the Uzbek people, unique historic sites, etc.

It was said that over 610 tourism organizations work in Uzbekistan, 163 firms have licenses to render hotel services and over 90% of them are small and private businesses. Since the beginning of 2008, about 60 new tourism operators have been registered.
