Uzbekistan’s public debt reaches US$40.2 Billion
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s public debt reached US$40.2 billion by the end of 2024, marking a 15.09% increase compared to 2023 (US$34.93 billion), according to the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
The public debt-to-GDP ratio stood at 35%.
The majority of the debt consists of external obligations, totaling US$33.72 billion (84% of total debt), with US$33.16 billion borrowed in foreign currency. Compared to 2023, external debt rose by 13.77% (US$29.64 billion), while foreign currency debt increased by 13.98% (US$29.09 billion).
Uzbekistan’s domestic debt stands at US$6.48 billion (16% of total debt), reflecting a 22.52% increase from US$5.29 billion in 2023.
