Uzbekistan’s population reaches 37.5 million
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As of 1 January 2025, the permanent population of the Republic of Uzbekistan stood at 37.5 million, according to data from the National Statistics Committee.
Statistical figures indicate that over the past five years, the country's population has grown by 3.6 million. In 2020, this figure was 33.9 million.
Historical data show a steady increase in Uzbekistan’s population over the past 100 years. In 1920, the country had a population of 4.4 million, and by 1990, this number had surpassed 20 million.
Between 1950 and 1960, the population grew from 6.2 million to 8.4 million. In the following decades, the growth rate accelerated: by 1970, the population had reached 11.8 million, and by 1980, it had increased to 15.8 million.
By 1990, Uzbekistan’s population had risen to 20.2 million. In 2000, it reached 24.5 million, and by 2010, the figure had grown to 28 million.
In 2020, the population exceeded 33.9 million, continuing its upward trend.
