Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 9 September, a grand ceremony was held at the capital’s airport to welcome Uzbekistan’s Paralympic team, returning from Paris after the XVII Summer Paralympic Games.
The Uzbekistan Airways plane landed at 18:15 Tashkent time, carrying athletes and their coaches, who brought home a total of 26 medals: 10 gold, 9 silver, and 7 bronze.
The Paris Paralympics became the most successful in Uzbekistan’s history, with the country placing 13th out of 168 nations.
In honor of this achievement, a celebratory event was organized at the Tashkent Airport domestic terminal under the directive of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The event was attended by officials, coaches, family members, and loved ones of the Paralympians.
The team was paraded through the city center, passing along streets such as Babur, Nukus, Aibek, Sharaf Rashidov, Shakhrisabz, and Navoi, allowing the public to greet and celebrate the Paralympic champions.
