Uzbekistan’s light industry manufactures good hits 4.2 trln. soums

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Light industry of Uzbekistan produced goods for 4.199 trillion soums in January-July 2013, which increased by 15.9% year-on-year, the press service of the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.

In the reporting period, the cotton industry enterprises produced goods for 984.3 billion soums (+18.2% year-on-year), knitting industry – 405 billion soums (+30.9%), apparel industry – 398.7 billion soums (+23.2%), leather industry - 219.7 billion soums (+21.2%).

The enterprises of the light industry increased production of mixed fabrics – 2.2 times, knitted fabric - 1.6 times, cotton fabrics - 1.4 times, knitwear - 1.4 times, and cotton yarn - 1.3 times.

They also increased production of textile haberdashery – 4.3 times, threads of raw silk - 1.5 times, hosiery - 1.3 times, carpets and rugs – 14.6%.

Share of light industry in total volume of industrial production of Uzbekistan exceeded 12.6%.
