The committee said average monthly inflation level comprised 1% in the first quarter and inflation level compared to December 2009 was 3%.

Industrial output in Uzbekistan rose 7% year-on-year to 7.419 trillion soums in the first quarter of 2010. Power industry produced goods for 660.9 billion soums (+5.6%), fuel industry – 1.639 trillion soums (+6.4%), ferrous metallurgy – 172.7 billion soums (+4.6%), non-ferrous metallurgy – 831.6 billion soums (+1.5%).

Chemical and oil-chemical industry produced industrial products for 318.2 billion soums (1.9%), machinery and metal processing for 983.8 billion soums (+7.9%), light industry for 1.181 trillion soums (+11%).

Production of consumer goods rose by 8.9% to 2.196 trillion soums in the reporting period, of which 1.01 trillion soums were food products (+8.7%)and 1.186 trillion soums non-food products (+9%).

In the first quarter, Uzbekistan produced agriculture products for 1.133 trillion soums, which is up by 6.1% year-on-year, the committee said. In particular, Uzbekistan produced 24,000 tonnes of vegetables, 297,100 tonnes of meat, 1.077 million tonnes of milk and 575.1 million of eggs.

Retail trade turnover of Uzbekistan grew by 8.3% year-on-year to 4.418 trillion soums in January-March 2010, while the volume of paid services rose to 1.54 trillion soums (13.4%). Share of services in GDP made up 46.7%.
