Uzbekistan’s GDP grows by 8.2% in Jan-Sep 2012
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The growth of gross domestic product (GDP) of Uzbekistan made up 8.2% in nine months of 2012. This was announced at the session of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan.

The session said that industrial output of the country rose by 7.2% in the reporting period, agriculture production – by 7.1%, construction works – by 9.8%, retail trade turnover – by 12.6% and services – by 13.8%.

State budget of Uzbekistan was executed with 0.3% surplus to GPD. Inflation rate did not exceed the forecasted parameters.

The government said that the exports of Uzbekistan grew by 12.4% in the result of support of exporters and strengthening of export potential.

Improvement of business environment allowed to create 18,400 new small and private businesses in nine months of 2012. Share of small and private businesses grew up to 51%.

The government’s session underlined that implementation of complex programmes on development of industry, expansion of goods production and launch of new competitive products helped to ensure sustainable high growth of industrial production in the reporting period.

Production of consumer goods increased by 7.5%, localized products – 25.2%. The country launched production of 957 new types of localized products in January-September 2012. Total volume of produced localized goods reached 6.2 trillion soums, of which products for US$840 million were exported.

The volume of used investments grew by 9.8% in nine months of 2012, including foreign investments – by 9.6%. About 882 new production objects were launched in the reporting period. The country completed implementation of 106 investment projects.

In nine months of 2012, 303 km of roads, which are part of Uzbekistan national highway, were reconstructed and constructed. Some 73 km of optic fiber cable was laid from Jizzakh to Bulungur.

It was said that Uzbekistan harvested 7.2 million tonnes of garin and 3.4 million tonnes of cotton-fiber in nine months of 2012.

The session stated that over 2 trillion soums were directed to implementation of projects and campaigns of the Programme “The Year of Family”.

The session underlined that 773,000 new jobs were created in Uzbekistan in nine months of 2012, of which 62.9% or 486,000 were created in rural areas.
