Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The economy of Uzbekistan grew by 6.2% in the first quarter of 2024, the Statistics Agency of Uzbekistan said.

In the first quarter of 2023, the country’s economic growth was 5.7%.

Inflation for the first 3 months of 2024 was 1.7%, for the same period in 2023 the figure was 2.4%.

In the reporting period, the index of physical growth of industrial production increased by 6.5% compared to 4.1% in January-March 2023.

The transport sector recorded an increase of 6.2%, construction – 6.8%, and agriculture – 3.6%.

Real growth in total income of the population reached 11.5%, previously in the first quarter of 2023 the growth was 10.8%.

The volume of foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan increased by 6.2%. Exports rose by 10.0%, and imports by 3.8%. At the same time, the growth in foreign trade turnover in the first quarter of 2023 was 12.8%.

The number of operating enterprises decreased to 469 thousand; in the first quarter of 2023, their number was 483.5 thousand.
