Uzbekistan’s full membership of the EAEU to provide an opportunity to overcome several obstacles when exporting its products

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan’s full membership in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will provide the republic with the opportunity to overcome several obstacles when exporting its products to the countries of the union, said the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Tashkent Oleg Malginov, RIA Novosti reported.

In December 2020, Uzbekistan received the status of an observer country in the Eurasian Economic Union.

“The EAEU remains a key direction for the export of Uzbek products, and Uzbekistan’s full membership in it will eliminate tariff, non-tariff, customs and other obstacles,” Malginov noted.

According to the ambassador, additional opportunities will also open up for Uzbek business, new markets and conditions for fair competition.

Malginov considers “logical” Uzbekistan’s participation as an observer in the EAEU, its interaction with the Eurasian Economic Commission and the decision to join the Eurasian Development Bank to further strengthen economic ties between countries.

“We consider it important to promote Uzbekistan’s work to harmonize its national legislation with Union standards and norms,” the ambassador added.

The Eurasian Economic Union, which has existed since 1 January 2015, includes Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Moldova has been an observer in the EAEU since May 2018, and in 2020, Cuba was also granted observer status in this integration association.
