Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has welcomed significant progress in the peace negotiations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.
The ministry noted that the signing of the historic Joint Declaration in Washington the previous day was made possible by the strong political will and determination of the leaders of both countries, as well as the active peacemaking efforts of the President of the United States.
“We highly appreciate the efforts of all parties aimed at overcoming the long-standing conflict. We are convinced that the prompt establishment of lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus will pave the way for launching major transport and infrastructure projects for the benefit of all peoples in the vast region,” the Foreign Ministry emphasized.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, with the assistance of the United States, signed a joint declaration on peaceful relations. The document was signed on August 8 at the White House, where U.S. President Donald Trump acted as a mediator, conducting negotiations with the leaders of both countries.
