Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 15 July 2025, under the chairmanship of the Chinese side, the regular meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states was held in the city of Tianjin. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov, took part in the event.

The meeting was also attended by the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Belarus Maxim Ryzhenkov, Foreign Minister of the Republic of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran Abbas Araghchi, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu, Member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Foreign Minister of the PRC Wang Yi, Foreign Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Jeenbek Kulubaev, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Permanent Member of the Security Council and Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirodjidin Muhriddin, as well as SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev and Director of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure Executive Committee Ulugbek Sharshiev.

During the session, participants exchanged views on priority areas of cooperation among SCO member states in the new global environment, as well as on pressing international and regional issues. They discussed the current status and future prospects of cooperation in political, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian fields, along with key matters related to improving the Organization’s activities.

Special attention was given to preparations for the upcoming SCO Heads of State Council meeting, scheduled to be held this autumn also in Tianjin. Drafts of the Tianjin Declaration, thematic leaders’ statements, and other documents and decisions were adopted as the basis.

The session approved the SCO Secretary-General’s report on the Secretariat’s activities.

Following the meeting, SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev and China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a joint press conference.
