Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan was able to ensure high rates of economic growth despite increasing tension and instability in the world. This was stated by the director of the Institute of Eurasia of the Chinese Academy of International Studies under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Li Ziguo, within the framework of the conference on the topic “Comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Uzbekistan in a new era,” which took place on 12 January in Tashkent.

Li Ziguo highly praised the economic, political and social reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan. The expert separately emphasized that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, having taken a course towards reforming and liberalizing the national economy, was able to ensure consistently high rates of growth despite increasing tension and instability in the world. According to him, last year Uzbekistan’s GDP growth exceeded 6%, which is twice the world average.

The director of the Institute of Eurasia paid special attention to the active development of the spheres of education and culture in our country, which are key components of social policy and form a strong basis for Uzbekistan’s entry into the era of the third Renaissance.

The Chinese expert noted that Uzbekistan has achieved significant results in the development of the social sphere over the past 6 years and continues to set high goals in this direction.

At the end of his speech, Li Ziguo expressed hope for further deepening of cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Uzbekistan and China.

At the conference organized by the ISMI under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan in partnership with the Institute for Social Development of Europe and Asia under the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, a thorough exchange of views took place on a wide range of issues of the current state and future prospects for bilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and China.

The event was attended by representatives of political and diplomatic circles and leading think tanks from China and Uzbekistan.
