Uzbekistan, UK to cooperate on issues of combating human trafficking and decent work

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Chairperson of the National Commission on Combating Trafficking in Persons and Decent Work Tanzila Narbaeva held talks with the Special Representative of the Prime Minister of Great Britain for the Elimination of Forced Labor, Justin Bedford.

During the meeting, current issues on the bilateral agenda in the field of social and labor relations and social protection of the population were discussed.

The Special Representative was given detailed information about the reforms being carried out in our country to support the social sphere. In particular, it was noted that the new version of the Constitution enshrines several social rights, and prohibits forced labor and any forms of child labor, and the new version of the Labor Code serves to create favorable working conditions.

During the dialogue, an exchange of views took place regarding the exchange of experience in the field of combating human trafficking and forced labor, improving regulations in this area, and establishing cooperation in the fight against modern forms of slavery.

The British side highly appreciated the activities of the National Commission on Combating Trafficking in Persons and Forced Labour, which at the end of 2023 was transformed into the National Commission on Combating Trafficking in Persons and Decent Work.

The parties expressed their readiness to establish cooperation in the implementation of new joint projects and programs, the use of advanced technologies and the introduction of innovative methods in the field of labor relations.
