Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan U-20 suffered a 1-2 defeat against Iran in the final match of the AFC U-20 Asian Cup group stage.

The opening goal came in the 52nd minute, when Yusuf Yazrah found the net for Iran. Ismoil Kholizadeh doubled Iran’s lead 14 minutes later. Uzbekistan managed to pull one back in the 80th minute through Muhammadali Urieboyev, but it was not enough to avoid defeat.

Despite the loss, both teams finished the group stage with six points. Iran topped Group C based on goal difference, while Uzbekistan secured second place. Indonesia and Yemen, with one point each, finished third and fourth, respectively.

Uzbekistan’s quarterfinal opponent will be determined tomorrow, with a high chance of facing either South Korea or Japan.
