Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan to develop transport-transit potential
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan agreed to use their potential in transport-transit sector in China-Caucasus-Turkey corridor.

In their joint statement, President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov and President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov underlined importance of implementation of transport project Navoi-Turkmenbashi-Baku-Tbilisi-Kars, which will ensure access to international markets.

As reported earlier, President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov paid an official visit to Turkmenistan on 1-2 October at the invitation of President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov.

The sides also expressed “mutual support in expanding transit potential of two states within the international transport corridors”.

At the briefing Uzbek President said: “We talked about communications, which can link Central Asia with Caucasus region, market of China with Caspian region, and taking into account launch of North-South railway road (Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran) to access Persian Gulf.”

Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov said that perspective of joint project is to creation of transport corridor Central Asia – Middle East (Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman-Qatar).

Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov said that Turkmenistan is also interest in transport projects Central Asia-China and Central Asia-Europe.
