Uzbekistan - Turkmenistan: Discussion of issues of bilateral cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Joint-stock company Uzbekistan Temir Yollari held bilateral negotiations with representatives of Demiryollary OJSC (Turkmenistan), during which a number of issues on mutual cooperation between the two railway administrations were considered.

Important results of the cargo turnover in 2022-2023 were discussed at a meeting between the administrations of the railway transport of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Cooperation in this area was recognized as very productive and mutually beneficial for both countries.

The meeting focused on several key aspects. Firstly, the issues of dislocation of tank cars belonging to Uzbekistan Temir Yollari JSC in the territories of Turkmenistan and Iran were discussed. The timely unloading and return of covered wagons located on the territory of Turkmenistan was also discussed.

At the same time, issues of restoring the operation of the interstate junction points Rzd. No. 161 and Takhiatash were considered. This is an important achievement that contributes to the development of international rail transport between the two countries.

At the meeting, the importance of preventing the loading of goods into wagons belonging to Demiryollary OJSC with overdue depot repairs in the direction of Uzbekistan and further in transit was also emphasized.

In addition, during the negotiations, issues of transit transportation and obtaining discounts for transit sections, as well as for individual goods exported and transiting through the sections of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan were discussed. This is aimed at stimulating transit traffic and facilitating cargo transportation between countries.

In conclusion, the meeting expressed interest in developing the capacity and increasing the volume of containerized freight traffic along the Farap/Khojadavlet ex route. – Turkmenbashi port – Farap/Khojadavlet ex. The possibility of creating joint terminals for even more efficient and convenient cargo transportation was also considered.

The heads of both railway administrations stressed the importance of cooperation in the field of railway transport for the development of the economy and strengthening ties between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. They expressed confidence in the successful implementation of the agreed measures and the achievement of common goals in the field of railway transport.

As a result of the meeting, the final protocol of Uzbekistan Temir Yollari JSC and Demiryollary OJSC was signed.
