Uzbekistan-Türkiye: Bilateral B2B negotiations were held

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 20 June 2023, within the framework of the visit of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) and a delegation of 33 Turkish companies from various fields to Uzbekistan, bilateral negotiations were held in the B2B format in Tashkent.

The event was held by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Trade of Türkiye and the Assembly of Turkish Exporters.

The Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) is established to guide Türkiye’s foreign trade, determine its export policy, develop market diversity, and promote exporters’ competition in the international market. The main mission of the institution is to increase the sustainable volume of foreign trade, to develop bilateral commercial, social and cultural relations with trading partner countries.

The Assembly prepares strategic plans for the development of the country’s economy and exports, and shares with the government, coordinates important studies such as export strategy, innovation strategy, and incubation centers.

The event was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Türkiye to Uzbekistan Olgan Bekar, First Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan Islam Jasimov and representatives of a number of other authorized ministries and departments.

The event was also attended by representatives of business circles of the two countries in the fields of construction, medicine, cosmetics, production of gold products and technical equipment.

In his speech, Islam Jasimov, First Deputy of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, emphasized that long-term and mutually beneficial relations between the business circles of the two countries, as well as support for the activities of business entities, play a special role in the further development and strengthening of trade and economic relations between Uzbekistan and Türkiye.

Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Uzbekistan Olgan Bekar noted that such negotiations will serve to strengthen friendly relations between Uzbekistan and Türkiye, as well as expand economic cooperation between the two countries.

During the negotiations, issues related to increasing the volume of trade between Uzbekistan and Türkiye, as well as the possibility of trade and economic cooperation were discussed. The parties also exchanged experience and considered issues related to improving the conditions for the export and import of goods.

For reference, as of January-February 2023, the volume of trade between Uzbekistan and Türkiye amounted to US$547.7 million, an increase of 5.7% compared to the same period in 2022.

As a result of the negotiations, agreements were reached to strengthen cooperation between Uzbekistan and Türkiye. Representatives of the business circles of both countries expressed their readiness to further develop partnerships and expand areas of cooperation.
