Uzbekistan to utilize 95% of associated petroleum gas by 2016
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan will increase level of utilization of associated petroleum gas from current 40% to 95% by the end of 2015, the deputy director-general of Uzneftegazdobicha Alimahmud Karimov said on Friday in Tashkent.

He said that Uzbekneftegaz national holding company is planning to implement four investment projects worth US$150 million to achieve this goal.

According to Uzbekneftegaz, currently Uzbekistan produces 60 billion cubic meters of gas a year and burns gas flare for 1.5 billion cubic meters. In last four years, Uzbekistan decreased gas flare volume by 3.5 billion cubic meters due to launch of booster stations and systems on collecting associated petroleum gas.

In order to increase the volume of associated petroleum gas utilization, Uzbekneftegaz plans to complete construction of two booster stations and systems on collecting associated petroleum gas at nine fields in Kashkadarya region with the capacity of 1 billion cubic meters of gas a year.

He said that currently, tender procedures on selection of equipment and construction of infrastructure are underway.

Utilization of gas flare at Mubarek Gas Processing Plant and group of low pressure oil fields in Kashkadarya region are connected with construction of two booster stations with the capacity of 900 million cubic meters of gas a year. The construction term is 2013-2014.

The projects will be financed due to own resources of Uzbekneftegaz and within the Clean Development Mechanism.
