Uzbekistan to train world-class energy specialists

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s economy is rapidly developing, and its successful future largely depends on having highly qualified specialists. In the context of rapid technological progress and growth in industrial production, the need for trained engineering personnel is particularly pressing.

For over 30 years, the National University of Science and Technology "MISIS" has been training engineering professionals for key sectors of the industrial economy. This collaboration reached a new milestone with the opening of a branch in Almalyk, Tashkent Region, in 2018.

According to a decree by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the branch began enrolling students in three educational programs in 2018: "Mining Engineering," "Metallurgy," and "Automation of Technological Processes."

In 2023, at the request of the branch’s "business partners," the branch obtained licenses from Rosobrnadzor for the educational programs "Information Technology" and "Economics."

Now, by decision of Rosobrnadzor, the Almalyk branch of the National University of Science and Technology "MISIS" has been granted a license for the educational program "Power Engineering and Electrical Engineering."

Obtaining licenses from Rosobrnadzor (Federal Service for Supervision in Education and Science) involves over a year of meticulous work, from setting up campus facilities to preparing the faculty. Every detail is scrutinized by a special commission. For example, the branch submitted documents in February 2023 and received the license in August 2024.

The branch will now train future energy specialists of a world-class standard!

Admissions are scheduled for the 2025/2026 academic year.

In addition, by the decision of the Presidents of both countries, an Advanced Engineering School (AES) will be established at the Almalyk branch of the National University of Science and Technology "MISIS." The educational process at the AES will be based on master’s programs.

This decision was driven by several indicators of the branch’s performance. The Almalyk branch was highly praised by Russian experts, including Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falskov.

Admissions to the AES will also commence in the 2025/2026 academic year.
