Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution “On additional measures for the development of the tourism sector with strict adherence to the requirements of an enhanced sanitary and epidemiological security regime” on 19 June 2020.

According to Uzbekistan 24 television channels, in a pandemic, 33 hotels in Uzbekistan lost their “categories”: 2 hotels lost “5 stars”, 11 - “4 stars”, 18 - “3 stars”, 2 - “2 stars”. Also 4 hotels reduced their categories.

If the category is maintained from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2023, 50% of the amount recovered for these categories will be returned to the hotels. Due to this, 29 hotels will have at their disposal additional funds in the amount of 3 billion soums.

The channel notes that 90 hotels in Uzbekistan provided the Trivago.ru reservation system with inaccurate information about their category. It is planned that such hotels will lose their license until all deficiencies are eliminated.
