Uzbekistan to speed up modernization of Ferghanaazot
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbek President Islam Karimov signed a resolution to speed up modernization of Ferghanaazot, largest chemical enterprise of Uzbekistan on production of nitrogenous fertilize, in 2009-2012. It is planned to implement three projects at Ferghanaazot worth US$25 million.

It is planned to implement works on saving energy at production of nitric acid for US$9.1 million in 2009-2011. Within the project, it is planned to introduce modern technology, which will decrease loss of heating energy by 400,000 gigacalories per year.

Ferghanaazot will modernize production of carbamide in 2010-2012 and invest US$9.8 million. The project implementation will increase carbamide production from 270,000 tonnes to 330,000 tonnes.

The shop on air separation at Ferghanaazot will be reconstructed in 2011-2012. The project worth US$6 million will help to increase production of nitrogen production to 10,000 cubic meters per hour and tonnage oxygen to 150,000 cubic meters per hour.

It is expected that feasibility studies of these projects will be developed and approved in 2009 and tenders on purchase of necessary equipment will be announced in 2010.

The projects will be financed due to own resources of Ferghanaazot for US$4.2 million, credit of Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan for US$17 million and resources of banks for US$3.8 million.

Ferghanaazot was commissioned in 1956 and it is largest enterprise of chemical industry on production of ammonium nitrate and carbamide.
