Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Art and Culture Development Foudation of Uzbekistan (ACDF) will participate in the 2025 Islamic Art Biennale in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, which will take place from 25 January to 25 May 2025.

ACDF will present a collection of unique manuscripts and artifacts that highlight Uzbekistan’s contributions to Islamic culture, science, and art. Many of the exhibits will be shown outside of Uzbekistan for the first time.

Among the key exhibits are:

Koran of Katta Langar (8th century): One of the oldest Korans, written in Kufic script.

"At-Tafhim li Awail Sinaat at-Tandjim" (13th century) by Al-Biruni: A fundamental work on astrology.

"Zij-i Ulugh Beg" (16th century) by Mirza Ulugh Beg: The astronomical tables of Ulugh Beg, long considered the most accurate in the world.

Tashkent Scroll (16th century): A Bukhara document illustrating state governance and cultural development of the era.

Gayana Umrova, Chair of the ACDF, emphasized that Uzbekistan’s participation in the Biennale contributes to the preservation and dissemination of Islamic heritage, as well as strengthening intercultural dialogue.

The Islamic Art Biennale is a major international platform that brings together artists, historians, and cultural figures to promote Islamic heritage. In 2025, the Biennale will be curated by Julian Raby, Amin Jaffer, and Abdul Rahman Azzam, with contemporary art being curated by Muhannad Shono.
