Uzbekistan to repay bonds of 1992 issue
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan announced on acceptation of the bonds of the Uzbek Republic of 12% internal lottery-loans of 1992 issue from population.

Today, Ministry of Finance and People’s Bank of Uzbekistan issued a joint statement on acceptation of the bonds of the Uzbek Republic of 12% internal lottery-loans of 1992 issue from population.

The statement said that Uzbek Republic placed bonds of 12% internal lottery-loans in 1992 among population in line with the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan from 6 April 1992.

In line with the terms of the issues, the bonds were issued for 20 years and should be repaid by 1 July 2014, the statement said.

The Government of Uzbekistan issued a resolution on retirement of the bonds on 5 March 2014, the statement said.

To execute the resolution and full implementation of the state obligations, guarantee protection of savings of the citizens and strengthen trust of population, Finance Ministry and People’s Bank said that the authorized branches of People’s Bank will accept bonds from 1 April to 1 July 2014 and issue a corresponding document on accepting the bonds.

From 1 August to 30 November 2014, the bank will issue payments with indexation. The bonds, which were not submitted in time, will not be accepted and repaid, the statement said. The indexation terms were not revealed.

The statement said that citizens should contact Ministry of Finance or People’s Bank on any issues related to repayment of the bond.
