Uzbekistan to produce gold and silver ingots to develop shopping tourism
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan will produce ingots of gold and silver weighing from 5 to 1000 grams for the development of shopping tourism. This was reported by the press service of the State Committee for Tourism.

On 7 June, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution "On measures to organize the production of ingots from precious metals and regulation of the functioning of the precious metals market in the Republic of Uzbekistan."

The document notes that the investment project "Construction of a modern high-tech complex for the production of dimensional bars of precious metals (gold and silver) weighing from 5 to 1000 grams on the basis of the state enterprise" Navoi MMC "will be implemented in Uzbekistan.

The document approved the action plan for implementation of the project, the main roles of the participants in the course of construction, expertise of the technical task of the tender documentation for the purchase of equipment and materials are distributed.

According to the document, the Navoi MMC can sell the remnants of jewelry of its own production in the domestic market for the national currency with the target direction of incoming funds from the sale of jewelry to finance the project.

State Tourism said that this decision will have a positive impact on increasing the attractiveness of Uzbekistan as a tourist destination.

Shopping tourism is popular among tourists from India and China, where a lot of tourists come to Uzbekistan. Tourists from India and China like to buy gold items during their travels - this is their peculiar tradition.

The government of Uzbekistan plans to simplify the import and export of precious metals from the country. Limitations on weight and conditions for the import and export of precious metals will be defined.
