Uzbekistan to produce 7 million tonnes of cement in 2010
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan is planning to produce 7 million tonnes of cement in 2010, deputy director of Uzstroymaterial joint stock company Abdurahmon Mahamadiev said in last week.

Abdurahmon Mahamadiev said that enterprises of Uzbekistan increased cement output from 3.28 million tonnes in 2000 and 6.85 million tonnes in 2009.

He said that largest cement producer of Uzbekistan is Kyzylkumcement open joint stock company, which produced 3.145 million tonnes of cement in 2009.

Ahangarancement OJSC manufactured 1.774 million tonnes of cement in 2009, while Quvasaycement OJSC produced 1.03 million tonnes of product in the same period. Bekabadcement OJSC produced 893,400 tonnes of cement.

Abdurahmon Mahamadiev said that the programme on modernization of industrial enterprises of construction materials for 2007-2011 envisages modernization of capacities of all cement plants with increasing their capacity by 2.1 million tonnes a year and 1 million tonnes of packaged cement.

Currently, largest cement producers in Uzbekistan are Kyzylkumcement OJSC (capacity – 3.1 million tonnes), Ahangarancement OJSC (1.74 million tonnes) and Quvasaycement OJSC (920,000 tonnes). Share of cement industry in total produced goods in construction materials sector is 72%.
