UNICEF
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan has to present a national report on children’s rights realization to UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to the end of 2009.

Starting from 1992, when Uzbekistan joined the Convention on Children’s Rights, the country presented two national reports on the topic.

Significant progress in legal basis advancing and practical implementation of children’s rights can be marked in Uzbekistan, according to UNICEF Resident Representative in Uzbekistan Makhbub Sharif.

Among advances in legal enforcement of children’s rights he noted law "On guarantees of children’s rights" coming into force in 2008, and joining of the republic to International Labor Organization conventions "On minimal age of employment" and "On prohibition and immediate measures on liquidation of the worst forms of child labor."

Uzbekistan is a participant of 38 international documents, referring to protection of rights of children and youth. One of the main international documents, to which the republic has joined, was Convention on Child’s Rights, ratified by the parliament of the country in 1992.
