Uzbekistan to launch two new TV channels in 2013
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Two new television channels - Madaniyat va ma’rifat (Culture and Enlightenment) and Dunyo bo‘ylab (Around the World) will be launched in Uzbekistan from January 2013.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a resolution “On expanding number of digital television channels of National television and radio company of Uzbekistan, their full use, filling them with quality content and maintenance” on 30 July 2012.

Chairperson of National television and radio company of Uzbekistan Alisher Hadjaev said in interview to newspaper “Sado” that new channels will be created as independent legal entities in form of state unitary enterprises and they will broadcast programmes across Uzbekistan for 24 hours.

Main goal of Madaniyat va ma’rifat is to create highly artistic cognitive, scientific-popular and cultural-enlightenment TV programmes, directed at raising cultural and educational level of population, form interest among young generation to science and education, etc.

Dunyo bo‘ylab will focus on expanding interest and knowledge of population on history, geography and modern development of the countries of the world, national traditions and cultures of various nations, unique nature, flora and fauna, etc.

All new television channels will produce quality television programmes, which will meet modern requirements. The programmes will be produced in digital format.

Currently, it is planned to hire 181 specialists to Madaniyat va ma’rifat channel and 152 specialists to Dunyo bo‘ylab channel. The channel will have five editorial boards.

The channels will be financed due to state budget. The resources will be allocated to finance work of employees, purchase content, participation of the Uzbek specialists at media exhibitions to buy and sell TV content. Equipment will be purchased with attraction of preferential loans of international financial institutions.
