Deputy chairperson of Uzbekistan Temir Yollari Sherzod Ismatullaev noted that the company also plans to open tourism trains to cities of Uzbekistan.
Ismatullaev said that new projects will cover maximum number of cities of Uzbekistan and Karakalpakstan – from Angren to Kungrad, including Muynak, Urgench, etc. Other project proposes to open new route Tashkent-Atyrau-Aktau-Astrahan-Moscow. In future, the tourism trains can be launched to other countries, such as Georgia and Armenia.
Uzbekistan Temir Yollari opened two special tourism trains Afsona and Orient Silk Road Express in 2013. Afsona runs within Uzbekistan and visits historic cities of the country. It runs on demand of the organizations.
Germany’s Lernidee Erlebnisreisen GmbH and Uzbekistan Temir Yollari launched tourism train Orient Silk Road Express on route Tashkent-Kamashi-Kitab-Bukhara-Urgench-Samarkand-Tashkent. In October 2013, the train was launched on route Almaty – cities of Uzbekistan – Ashgabat.
The tourism train is the first such train in Central Asia and is directed at increasing tourists inflow to Uzbekistan.
