Uzbekistan to introduce “Green Entrepreneur” status for businesses
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan will introduce a “Green Entrepreneur” status for businesses, granting them access to a range of benefits. This initiative is outlined in the presidential decree on the implementation of the state program for 2025.
Starting from 1 September 2025, a dedicated platform will be launched where businesses can apply for this status. Eligible companies will include those adopting environmentally friendly technologies, energy-saving solutions, and measures to minimize their environmental impact.
To qualify, businesses must meet several criteria, such as establishing “green belts” around their facilities, implementing drip and container irrigation systems, utilizing energy-efficient equipment and technologies, and setting up online monitoring systems to prevent environmental violations and harmful emissions. Additionally, companies must adhere to circular economy principles, following the "7R" concept.
Holders of the “Green Entrepreneur” status will receive various benefits, including priority access to the Shaffof Qurilish (“Transparent Construction”) system, which governs state procurement and construction services, temporary exemptions from environmental inspections, support in entering international markets, and additional points in the Entrepreneurship Sustainability Rating.
Moreover, starting from 1 April 2025, Uzbekistan will introduce “green tariffs” for electricity generated from renewable sources. The preferential tariff will apply to entrepreneurs utilizing biogas, waste, solar, and wind energy for electricity production, as well as to households that install solar panels and sell excess energy back to the state.
