Uzbekistan to increase hydrocarbon reserves
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan is planning to ensure annual growth of hydrocarbons by 1.5 times average in 2011-2020 to 3.8 million tonnes of standard coal, director of IGIRNIGM OJSC Gaybulla Abdullaev said.

In line with the concept on oil and gas industry development, prepared by Uzbekneftegaz, Uzbekistan is planning to increase gas reserves by 1.25 times, oil by 1.65 times and gas condensate by 1.33 times by 2020.

Gaybulla Abdullaev said that the annual volumes of prospect, exploration and parametrical drilling will increase by 2.5 times to 300,000 meters a year.

It is planned to raise sharply volumes of hi-tech 3D seismic prospecting from 1,639 square kilometers in 2010 to 4,000 square kilometers in 2020 with simultaneous reduction of 2D surveys from 16,851 km. Number of prepared and entered prospects drilling on oil and gas objects will also increase.

Gaybulla Abdullaev underlined that the growth of hydrocarbon potential of Uzbekistan will strengthen its fuel-energy independence and ensure uninterrupted long work of enterprises on processing oil, gas and condensate. It will also increase export volume of Uzbekistan to 27.2 billion cubic meters by 2020.

Currently, Uzbekistan uses about 25% of total low hydrocarbon resources, including in Bukhara-Khiva region – 75%, in Southern-Western Gissar – 35%, in Surkhandarya – 12%, in Ferghana – 22% and in Ustyurt – 15%.

As of the beginning of 2011, some 232 hydrocarbon fields opened in Uzbekistan, of which 183 are gas fields. Uzbekistan develops 103 fields and 60 – prepared to development and 69 – are under exploration works.

Recoverable explored reserves of hydrocarbons in Uzbekistan makes up 2.517 million tonnes of standard coal as of the beginning of 2011, of which 65% felt to share of gas reserves.
