The projects are included into a programme on the modernizing, as well as on the technical and technological upgrading of the companies of the economy’s basic sectors, which was approved by an Uzbek presidential decree.
The Gazeta.uz website has learnt that the programme includes 181 projects in the real sector of the economy totalling US$22.97 billion, which are already being implemented and prepared for implementation.
Of this amount, US$15.4 billion will be channelled into projects on the construction of new facilities, US$6.4 billion into upgrading and reconstructing existing companies, and US$1.2 billion into technical and technological re-equipping.
The financing of the projects will be carried out on the account of foreign investments and loans worth 15.1bn dollars and the companies’ own funds worth US$5.8 billion, as well as loans by the Uzbek Reconstruction and Development Fund - US$1.5 billion and loans by the country’s commercial banks - US$570 million.
