Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Mirziyoyev announced snap presidential elections.

Snap presidential elections will be held in Uzbekistan. Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced the signing of the corresponding decree.

“When the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan calls snap elections for the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, elections are held within two months in full accordance with this code,” the text of the law says.

Earlier, on 8 May, Mirziyoyev signed a constitutional law allowing early elections of the head of state by decision of the incumbent. 

The document entered into force from the moment of its publication. Previously, early presidential elections in Uzbekistan were allowed only if the incumbent head of the country is unable to perform his duties for three months.
