Uzbekistan to hold new rounds of immunization campaign against polio
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan will hold two more rounds of the National Days of Immunization against Polio on 23-28 April and 21-26 May 2012.

Children at the age up to 5 of eight regions of Uzbekistan, bordering with neighboring states, will be vaccinated in each round of the campaign.

Vaccines, produced in Russia, were purchased to organize the National Days of Immunization against Polio. The WHO guarantees safety of vaccines with its special certificate.

About 6,200 clinics, rural medical centers and special vaccination points were created to vaccinate children against polio.

Parents should bring their children at the age up to 5 to one of points and receive vaccine against polio, which will strengthen immunity of children against this disease.

Poliomyelitis (polio) is a highly infectious disease caused by a virus. It invades the nervous system, and can cause total paralysis in a matter of hours. Oral polio vaccine is only effective way of preventing the decease.
