The Scientific-Practical Center of Subtropical Plants was formed at the Altynsay district of Surkhandarya region. The center prepares and supplies farmers with saplings of untraditional, rare fruit and decorative plants.

Togay Karimov, head of the center, said it is planned to plant herbs along with tea. The center is collecting seeds of herbs. He added that the center signed agreements on import of five thousand samplings and tea seeds.

The center will also plant olive, lemon and fig. It is also planned to develop garden of small apple-tree based on Turkish experience.

Later, it is planned to pack tea in one of the local plants, which will allow to decrease import volume. It is expected that the center will direct olive to production of edible oil.

According to the specialists, climate in Surkhandarya region is convenient for nurturing subtropical plants.
