Uzbekistan to export tourism services for US$98m in 2010
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan is expecting that export of tourism services will reach US$98 million in 2009. The country exported tourism services for US$63 million in 2008 and US$75 million in nine months 2009.

Uzbekistan Embassy in Latvia hosted an event dedicated to tourism potential of Uzbekistan. Over 20 tour operators from Latvia sent tourists to Uzbekistan, baltic-course.com reported.

About 3,200 people from Baltic countries visited Uzbekistan in 2008, while 900 people from the region visited Uzbekistan in 2007.

During the meeting, it was said that tourists from Asian countries compensated decrease of European tourists’ number. India, China, Korea and others helped to boost number of tourists in Uzbekistan.

Over 1 million tourists visited Uzbekistan in 2008, of which 880,000 people were from the CIS states, 150,000 people from Asian countries and 36,000 people from Europe.
