Uzbekistan to expand electric vehicle charging station network

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  Uzbekistan is set to expand its network of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.

The government has adopted a resolution “On Additional Measures for Developing Infrastructure for the Use of Electric Vehicles in 2024-2025.”

According to the document, starting from 1 February 2025, at least 5% of parking spaces in infrastructure projects for state institutions, hotels, business centers, retail outlets, and public catering facilities, as well as along international and state roads, must be equipped with charging stations for electric vehicles.

Additionally, charging stations with a capacity of up to 22 kW will be installed near apartment buildings, including the closest parking areas.

The resolution also permits the leasing of spaces for the installation of charging stations on the premises of government institutions, local authorities, and self-governing bodies through electronic auctions in the automated system "K-SAVDO."

Moreover, the document establishes target indicators for the installation of charging stations in parking lots, social institutions, government buildings, as well as near shopping and business centers, public catering enterprises, hotels, multi-apartment buildings, and gas stations.

This initiative reflects Uzbekistan’s commitment to enhancing its EV infrastructure and promoting sustainable transportation solutions. It’s an exciting development that could pave the way for more environmentally friendly mobility options across the country!
