Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and Latvia have launched a joint project to improve the phytosanitary system with the goal of increasing Uzbek product exports.

A meeting with experts from Latvia was held at the Agency for Plant Quarantine and Protection of Uzbekistan.

The parties discussed further development of cooperation between the two countries.

They initiated the project "Improvement of the Phytosanitary System to Increase the Export of Uzbek Products," funded by the Latvian government.

In the first stage, Latvian experts will conduct research and provide recommendations on plant protection, soil analysis, fertilizers, and other key aspects for both countries.

One of the priority areas of cooperation will be scientific research for experience exchange between Uzbekistan and Latvia.

The parties agreed to organize regular visits of Uzbek and Latvian specialists to exchange knowledge and expertise.

The Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan emphasizes that close cooperation has been established between the governments of the two countries in the field of phytosanitation. Several projects have been implemented, including pesticide registration, improved quarantine control in fields and orchards, and joint scientific research.

Within this cooperation, Uzbek specialists are enhancing their knowledge of European market requirements, which contributes to expanding export geography and diversifying products.
