Uzbekistan to establish control over the export of fruits and vegetables

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan adopted a resolution to introduce control over the export of fruits and vegetables in order to prevent artificially low export prices and combat the unofficial economy.

According to the document, the list of products subject to supervision will be approved by 1 May. A pricing monitoring system for export contracts will also be introduced.

The competence to compile the list has been entrusted to the Government Commission for Investment, Industrial Development and Trade Regulation. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry will be able to approve recommended minimum export prices for the goods included in it.

To this end, representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry will constantly monitor world prices for fruits and vegetables.

Minimum export prices will be calculated weekly based on various factors, including publicly reported prices in the media and online, prices in international markets, export prices from suppliers and other parameters.

Recommended export prices will be published in the Unified Electronic System of Foreign Trade Operations and on the websites of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Agency for Quarantine and Plant Protection.

Export prices in contracts are allowed to be reduced by 20%, and if this restriction is violated, the Customs Committee is obliged to inform the Tax Committee and the Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office for an investigation.
