Uzbek President Islam Karimov assigned National Security Service (NSS) of Uzbekistan as authorized body to carry out single state policy and certification of products (services) in cryptographic protection of information.
President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a corresponding resolution "On measures on organization of cryptographic protection of information in Uzbekistan" on 3 April 2007.
The resolution approved regulation on cryptographic protection of information in Uzbekistan, which determines order of cryptographic protection of information, including in development, realization, usage, import and export of cryptographic protection means, which is used to protect state secrets in accordance with legislation of Uzbekistan.
The document also approved regulation on certification of means of cryptographic protection of information in Uzbekistan, developed in accordance with requirement on information security and establishes on order of organization of work on certification and state control over certification of means.
The programme and technical means, exploitation materials and other means, purchased to develop local means of cryptographic protection are exempted from payment of customs duties (except registration fees) at existence of written approval of NSS.
