Uzbekistan to commission 4 thermal power plants with a total capacity of 4083 MW by 2028

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan plans to commission 4 thermal power plants with a total capacity of 4083 MW by 2028.

Uzbekistan has concluded 11 agreements on the construction of thermal power plants with foreign companies. Companies from Germany, France, the Netherlands, Japan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye will participate in the projects.

As part of these agreements, 11 thermal power plants with a total capacity of 7017 MW will be built in Uzbekistan by 2028. About US$4.8 billion of direct investment will be allocated to implement the projects.

At the first stage, in 2022-2023, 7 thermal power plants with a total capacity of 2374 MW were launched in four regions of Uzbekistan - in Bukhara, Tashkent, Khorezm and Syrdarya regions.

At the next stage, until 2028, 4 thermal power plants with a total capacity of 4083 MW will be commissioned.

In particular, in 2024, a thermal power plant with a capacity of 400 MW will be launched in the Nishan district of Kashkadarya region.

In 2026, a thermal power plant with a capacity of 550 MW will be commissioned in Sharof-Rashidov district of Jizzakh region, and a station with a capacity of 1573 MW will be built in Bayavut district of Sirdarya region.

By the end of 2027, it is planned to launch a thermal power plant with a capacity of 1560 MW in Angor district of Surkhandarya region.
