Uzbekistan to begin installing fifth-generation base stations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Base stations of the fifth generation of the 5G standard will be installed in Tashkent and in all regional centers. This was reported by Uzbektelecom.

According to the company, within the framework of the Samarkand SCO summit, Uzbektelecom reached an agreement with Chinese companies on the implementation of 4 investment projects worth US$506.8 million to develop the telecommunications infrastructure of the republic.

To implement these projects, Uzbektelecom signed 8 contracts with Huawei and ZTE corporations.

As a result of the implementation of the projects, the following will be achieved:

Expansion of opportunities and coverage of the population using telecommunication services;

Improving the quality of services provided;

Full coverage of high-speed mobile Internet highways of international importance;

Full coverage of high-speed mobile Internet on railways throughout the Republic;

Installation of base stations of the fifth generation 5G standard in the city of Tashkent and centers of all regions;

Expansion of the capacity of data transmission networks and backbone transport networks.
