Uzbekistan to attract US$1.39bn to road construction in 2012
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan is planning to attract investments for US$1.39 billion to construction of 762 km of roads in 2012, the deputy director of the Republican Road Fund under the Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan Alisher Hakberdiev said.

He said that currently Uzbekistan received financial resources from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Islamic Development Bank (IDB) for US$839.5 million to construct 474 km of roads.

He said that Uzbekistan works over attraction of US$500 million of the ADB resourcs. He said that the country can attract US$51 million from Saudi Development Fund and Kuwait Arab Economic Development Fund.

Till the end of 2012, Uzbekistan plans to construct and reconstruct 517 km of four-lane automobile roads.

According to the programme on speeding up development of infrastructure, transport and communication construction in 2011-2015, Uzbekistan is conducting work on construction and reconstruction of 2,306 km roads and 1,910 bridges and overpasses, seven transport road junctions, which are part of the Uzbek national highway.
