Navoi region was declared a free economic zone. A South Korean business delegation also came to Navoi Region to learn about conditions for economic cooperation there.
According to official information, the Uzbek government plans to attract foreign investments worth US$900 million by the end of 2009 to develop industry in Navoi region, which was turned into a free economic zone.
It is proposed to implement 40 joint projects with foreign investment. It is said that when Navoi region was declared a free economic zone, such administrative regulations as visa regulations and customs and tax procedures were simplified for foreign business circles, and favourable conditions were created for foreign partners.
