Uzbekistan to acquire another 700 new buses in 2025

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In 2025, Uzbekistan will introduce another 700 new buses on its streets, including 200 electric buses, according to the Tahlilnoma program on the O’zbekiston 24 TV channel.

This will significantly increase the number of public transport vehicles, marking an approximate 75% growth compared to the current situation.

By 2030, if the plans are realized, Uzbekistan will have 5,000 modern buses and 2,000 electric buses—5.5 and 6.5 times more, respectively.

Since 2017, Uzbekistan has been actively increasing the number of electric buses and environmentally friendly vehicles. In 2019, 89 new buses were delivered to the country, and in 2023, their number grew tenfold to nearly 900 buses, including 300 electric buses.

As part of the development of green transport infrastructure, starting in 2024, entrepreneurs in the regions have purchased 344 buses running on natural gas and 47 electric buses.

According to a presidential decree, it was planned to launch 1,200 electric buses in Tashkent in 2023. These buses have environmentally friendly characteristics, do not emit harmful substances, operate quietly, and have a large capacity.
