Uzbekistan tightens measures against repeated imposition of penalties on businesses for the same violation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During the latest session of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, deputies reviewed and approved in the second reading a bill aimed at eliminating cases of repeatedly penalizing entrepreneurs for the same offense.

The bill proposes amendments to the Administrative Responsibility Code and the Tax Code. The main objective of the document is to ensure the principle of a single penalty for one violation and improve the effectiveness of tax administration.

During the preparation of the bill for its second reading, several working meetings, sessions, and seminars with the participation of deputies and experts were held. Many of the suggestions raised, particularly those related to supporting entrepreneurs, creating favorable conditions for business operations, and enhancing the system of tax incentives, were reflected in the final version of the document.

Special attention during the discussions was given to issues of responsibility for tax violations, including financial sanctions and administrative fines, to minimize the potential negative impacts on businesses. Provisions aimed at providing tax incentives to business entities were also approved.

It is expected that the adoption of the bill will reduce the administrative burden on businesses, prevent unnecessary bureaucracy, and increase companies’ working capital, which will, in turn, support their development.

The deputies unanimously supported the initiative, and the bill was adopted in its second reading.
