Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan Temir Yollari (Uzbekistan Railways) state joint stock railway company won a tender on construction of railway Hairatan-Mazar-e-Sharif with the extension of 75 km. This was announced at the 51st session of the Council on railway transport of the CIS, which is taking place in Uzbekistan.

The Uzbek company said it is planned to sign a contract for US$170 million by the end of 2009 and the project will be implemented by the second half of 2010.

The project will be financed due to grant of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for US$165 million and own resources of Afghanistan Government for US$5 million.
