Uzbekistan Temir Yollari to complete electrification of Tashkent-Angren railroad
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan Temir Yollari state joint-stock railway company will complete electrification of Tashkent-Angren railroad in April 2010. The extension of railroad id 114 km and the cost of the project is US$85.4 million.

Now, the company is completing assembly of equipment and commissioning work in underway in some parts of railroad. The company plans to complete project in April, realization of which was launched in 2002, and start to run trains in May.

The project is financed due to loan of KfW for US$35.3 million, Kuwait Economic Development Fund – US$22.1 million and own funds of Uzbekistan Temir Yollari – US$28 million.

Uzbekistan has 4,100 km of railroads, of which 650 km were electrified. Uzbekistan electrified 400 km of railroad in last six year. The country plans to electrify about 2,000 km of railroads.
