Uzbekistan Temir Yollari constructs new railroads
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan Temir Yollari state joint stock railway company (Uzbekistan Railways) laid the first kilometers of two-lane railroad between Yangiyer and Jizzakh cities.

Uzbekistan Today newspaper reported that the railroad decreases travel distance and increase transportation capacities of trains, running between Tashkent and Samarkand and further.

The launch of the road in autumn 2011 will allow trains, heading to Samarkand and further, to run through shorter road between Yangiyer and Jizzakh and link to existing railroad network. During construction works, the first tunnel has been constructed to secure trains and automobiles at crossroads near Yangiyer.

New railroad will be also used in exploitation of the first Central Asian high-speed train passenger transportation. The speed of the train will reach 250 km per hour and it will run between Tashkent and Samarkand.

Uzbekistan Temir Yollari is also constructing fences and repairing existing roads to ensure security of high speed railroad movement simultaneously with construction of new railroads.

In next five years, it is planned to use new railroad to launch movement of electric trains between Tashkent and Termez. The electrification of railroad Maroqand-Qarshi-Tashguzar-Boysun should be carried out to realize this project.
