Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan Temir Yollari entered into an agreement for the purchase of electric trains from Hyundai Rotem. The agreement was signed as part of the visit of the President of the Republic of Korea to Uzbekistan, which started on 13 June 2024.

During the meeting of the joint stock company Uzbekistan Temir Yollari and the Hyundai Rotem, the implementation plan for the project “Purchase of 6 high-speed passenger electric trains” was discussed.

The purchase is carried out in accordance with paragraph 12 of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PP-329 from 10 October  2023.

The project is carried out with the support of the Korean Economic Cooperation Development Fund.

Uzbekistan Railways JSC, Temiryulexpress JSC and Hyundai Rotem signed an agreement for the supply and maintenance of electric trains. It was announced that the electric trains of the Hyundai Rotem will bear the name “Jaloliddin Manguberdi” and will run on the route Tashkent – Urgench – Khiva.

Following the meeting, a tripartite memorandum was also signed between Uzbekistan Temir Yollari JSC, Temiryulexpress JSC and Hyundai Rotem.
