Uzbekistan takes the first place in the Top 10 countries with the greatest progress in ensuring food security in 2019-2022.

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Experts from the Institute for Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research (IPMI) analyzed changes in Uzbekistan’s position in the Global Food Security Index in 2019-2022.

The Global Food Security Index (GFSI) was developed and compiled annually by the Economist Intelligence Unit with the support of Corteva Agriscience. GFSI 2022 was published on September 20, 2022 and is the eleventh edition of the index.

GFSI addresses issues of food accessibility, availability, quality and safety, as well as natural resources and sustainability in 113 countries.

According to the results of the analysis, it was revealed that in the overall GFSI ranking from 2019 to 2022. Uzbekistan has risen by 12 positions, taking in 2022 the 73rd place out of 113.

Thus, Uzbekistan was in first place in the Top 10 countries with the greatest progress in ensuring food security in 2019-2022.

In the category "Economic accessibility" Uzbekistan has risen by 18 positions. In the category "Quality and safety" moved 3 positions up. In the category "Stability and adaptation" jumped 36 positions up.

In order to improve the position of Uzbekistan in the ranking in the future, it is necessary to increase the supply of food in the domestic market, ensure the diversification of import supplies, develop National Nutrition Recommendations, accelerate the introduction of mandatory labeling of food products, etc.
